C2C Deets
We have been once again accepted to participate in the Compete to Contribute challenge!
What does that mean?
That means we have the opportunity to be involved in a friendly competition with other local non profit groups.
What kind of competition?
Groups are asked to complete acts of “good" in the community.
Why are we doing this?
We could have the chance to win money for our club. But more than that, this competition encourages a sense of community and actions for the benefit of all.
What could we win?
Last years winning group claimed $15 000 for their team. Three runners up also won cash for their groups.
How long do we have?
All acts must be completed by July 31st.
What are we doing?
We would like to expand last years idea. Hand made pictures drawn by our riders, encouraging recipients to perform random acts of kindness. We would like to do it bigger and better this year, and to do that we need input and participation from as many of our riders as possible.
How much extra work will this be?
Hardly any! Kids can draw pictures at the track. We will have the supplies on hand during races and practice. As for handing out the cards, there are many community and BMX events over the summer at which we can spread the kindness.
We would love to have as many of our kids involved as possible. The more participation, the better our chances at winning. We already have wonderful club with amazing members , so let’s work together to challenge others to do good things!
Our Compete to Contribute mentor Dave Oldham will be working closely with us to help give us our best chance at winning. You can contact him at doldham@sprucegrove.org / 780-221-1954. We encourage all ideas and input. Please don't hesitate to contact Lei, either in the moto shed or through email lgryshik@telus.net with any questions, comments or input.
Also please check out the Compete to Contribute website for information on the participants and the sponsors who make this possible
