New Bikes
There are two main types of BMX Racing Bikes, commonly referred to as a 20” or 24” Cruiser. These sizes refer to the diameter of the tire. Most common is the 20”. Below is a general guideline for bike sizes based on rider height. BMX Racing bikes are determined primarily by the “length” of the bike frame as measured from the middle of the seat post to the middle of the headset. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask any club member. the top two things BMX families love to chat about is first, their riders and a very close second - bikes!
20” Bike Sizes
Micro Mini: 4'4" & under
Mini: 4'2" - 4'10
Junior: 4'6" - 5'1"
Expert: 5'0" - 5'4
Expert XL: 5'2" - 5'6

Cruisers 24”
Cruiser Bikes are larger in size and have a 24’ wheel diameter. Most people who “ride cruiser” also “dual class” (race their 20” bike AND their Cruiser, giving them a total of at least 6 motos (heats) per night. A lot of adults prefer a cruiser to a 20” as it is said to be a smoother ride. In that case, they can simply choose to race Cruiser only. Chat up one of our Cruiser Moms or Dads to get the low down on Cruising - maybe even give one a whirl around the track. Please note, Cruiser class needs to be registered on your license.
